DateField doesn't set value on click occasionally

When clicking on a day in the DateField select menu, sometimes, the menu just closes and no date is set. It does not seem that there is some way to enforce that faulty behaviour.

This happens quite often to me and is frankly annoying. I suspect it has to do with text-field focus and how the field uses focus to detect changes.

To make it work again I have to focus in & out several times.

I think I found the problem: I can't select a date if I touch on my laptop's touchpad. If I click it instead it seems to work.

Nop that was not it.
